چکیده

Software agents and multi-agents systems (MAS from now on) are recognized as both abstractions and effective technologies for modelling and building complex distributed applications. However, they are still difficult to engineer. The reason is that when massive number of autonomous components interact it is very difficult to predict that the emergent organizational structure fits the system goals or that the desired functionalities will be fulfilled. Verification approaches try to evaluate whether or not a product, service, or system complies with a specification. However verification approaches are limited by the state-space of the system under study. This paper proposes an approach based upon an organizational framework and specifically the capacity concept which enables to abstract a role know-how and to reduce the state space of the system under study. A formal framework based on multi-formalisms language and the specification approach are presented and illustrated through the specification of a part of the contract net protocol.

Model Checking Auctions as Artifact Systems: Decidability via Finite Abstraction

The formal verification of auctions has recently received considerable attention in the AI and logic community. We tackle this problem by adopting methodologies and techniques originally developed for Artifact Systems, a novel paradigm in Service Oriented Computing. Specifically, we introduce a typed version of artifactcentric multi-agent systems (AC-MAS), a multi-agent setting for Artifact Sys...

Automated Verification of Resource Requirements in Multi-Agent Systems Using Abstraction

We describe a framework for the automated verification of multi-agent systems which do distributed problem solving, e.g., query answering. Each reasoner uses facts, messages and Horn clause rules to derive new information. We show how to verify correctness of distributed problem solving under resource constraints, such as the time required to answer queries and the number of messages exchanged ...

Verification of GSM-Based Artifact-Centric Systems through Finite Abstraction

The GSM framework provides a methodology for the development of artifact-centric systems, an increasingly popular paradigm in service-oriented computing. In this paper we tackle the problem of verifying GSM programs in a multi-agent system setting. We provide an embedding from GSM into a suitable multi-agent systems semantics for reasoning about knowledge and time at the first-order level. Whil...

OMNI: Introducing Social Structure, Norms and Ontologies into Agent Organizations

In this paper, we propose a framework for modelling agent organizations, Omni, that allows the balance of global organizational requirements with the autonomy of individual agents. It specifies global goals of the system independently from those of the specific agents that populate the system. Both the norms that regulate interaction between agents, as well as the contextual meaning of those in...

Towards a New Approach for Controlling the Reorganization Process of Multi-Agent Systems

Reorganization in Multi-Agent Systems plays a crucial role in the dynamic adaptation of the structure and the behaviour of organizations. In order to ensure consistency of the resulting organization, the reorganization process has to be controlled. This paper proposes a novel approach for controlling the reorganization process of Multi-Agent Systems, which are specified and implemented using th...
